TwainHeart Beagles began in 1990 when we acquired our first Beagle and started showing. A year later we got a second Beagle, and after another year of showing him, we decided we were ready to make a commitment to breeding Beagles.
In late 1994 we whelped our first litter. In the following five years we bred seven champions. In 2000 our career goals led us to re-think our intense involvement in Beagles. We kept three Beagles to be our personal pets and placed the others in pet homes. But it was a short hiatus. In 2002, CH.TwainHeart's Bet Your Sweet Aspen (Sassy), who lived with another breeder, had puppies. We took the only female and named her TwainHeart's Kissimmee Quick. She became a champion and had her first litter in 2005. We continue to do limited breeding and showing.
Our goal at TwainHeart is to breed the perfect Beagle. But perfection is an elusive goal. Most litters produce puppies that we place in pet homes on a spay/ neuter contract. One of our greatest joys in raising Beagles has been the friendships we've established with people who adopt our Beagles.
In 2012 we were named an AKC Breeder of Merit
We are founding members of the Columbia-Willamette Beagle Club.
